Big week on the Beaches. The RBA dropped another rate hike on us today, interest rates are now at 4.10%, and while that will get people talking, there is plenty of other good news to share from across the Northern Beaches this week. From a charity hike along our coastline to exciting local news stories, community events and a look at what the property market is doing, let’s get into it.

🏥 Northern Beaches Hospital Goes Fully Public
After years of community campaigning, Northern Beaches Hospital officially transitions to full public management in April 2026. An additional 5,000 surgeries per year will be unlocked through a new Planned Surgery Centre covering ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT and more. Private services continue until June 2027, and more than 1,800 staff have been offered NSW Health roles. A significant win for the Northern Beaches community.

🏄 Mona Vale SLSC’s Skye Rose Honoured as Local Woman of the Year
Mona Vale Surf Life Saving Club’s Skye Rose has been recognised as a local woman of the year for building the ‘Kickability’ program - an inclusive nippers program designed for children living with disabilities. Her son Dane, 17, who has autism, inspired the initiative after mainstream AFL proved too intense. A reminder of the extraordinary community spirit that makes the Northern Beaches unique.
⚠️ NSW Health Measles Warning for Northern Beaches Locations
NSW Health has issued warnings following a measles outbreak that includes a number of Northern Beaches locations. If you or your family have not been vaccinated, now is the time to check with your GP. Details of affected locations are available via NSW Health.
🏗️ Council Rejects Ingleside Planning Proposal
Northern Beaches Council has rejected the Planning Proposal for land at Wilson Avenue, Wilga Street, and Powderworks Road in Ingleside following a thorough review. The decision reflects the council’s ongoing commitment to ensuring development aligns with community expectations and infrastructure capacity.
🚖 Future of Manly Cabs in Doubt
The future of Manly Cabs is uncertain after administrators ordered all cars off the road this week. The company has been a fixture of local transport for decades. Residents are advised to plan alternative transport in the short term while the situation is assessed.
🏠 37 New Social Homes at Former Queenscliff Health Centre Site
37 new social homes are planned for the former Queenscliff Health Centre site, with priority given to women over the age of 55. The development forms part of a broader government push to address housing supply shortfalls and provide secure housing for vulnerable residents on the Northern Beaches.
